Monuments

Château de Pau – Pau Castle
Classified historical monument since 1840, this castle is located in the heart of the old town. It’s mostly known because Henri IV, King of France and Navarre, was born in it (his birth is celebrated each year in december with the party "La poule au pot est Reine"). 

Palais Beaumont – Beaumont Palace
The Congress Centre of Pau is a true palace with a remarkable architecture. It was built in 1900.

 

Symbolic Places

Funiculaire – Funicular railway
Implemented in 1908, the funicular railway links freely the train station to the Pyrenean Boulevard over 100 meters, with a 30 degree slope.

Place Clémenceau – Clemenceau Place
Palm trees and water games are the characteristics of this place and make it essential in your visit.

Place Royale – Royal Place
Place created by Louis XIV, you can find in its center a Henri IV statue.

Boulevard des Pyrénées – Pyrenean Boulevard
This avenue (1800m long) links the Beaumont Park to Pau Castle in a wonderful boardwalk with an amazing view on the Pyrenees.
